Veteran Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman celebrated a significant milestone on Sunday as she marked one year since her debut on Instagram. Reflecting on her journey, Aman shared her insights on the transformative experience of engaging with social media.
In a heartfelt post commemorating the occasion, the actress conveyed how her venture into Instagram was initially prompted by her children's encouragement. She shared, “People presume that transformative experiences are the prerogative of the young. My experience tells me otherwise. 365 days ago my kids cajoled me into uploading my first Instagram post. That little leap of faith forced me to confront my deep tech trepidations and even deeper need for privacy. Then it gifted me a transformative year. It showed me the possibilities of being true to my self, publicly. No agents, no managers, no bought followers - just the kids and I winging it! Oh, and what kids they are. If you wonder how I navigate Instagram or know the latest lingo, the answer lies with my informal little band of millennials.”
The actress also shared details about the behind-the-scenes process of her Instagram posts, highlighting her self-sufficiency in capturing images and styling herself. She expressed appreciation for the support received from her photographer and revealed that the snapshots were taken recently in her garden. Aman added, “There is lovely, gentle @tanya.agarwall_ who photographs me with ease, thoughtful @_pratikshanair_ who makes up my face exactly as I like, and quiet @makeupnhairbyankita who fixes my hair. Then there are @zanuski and @carapiranha , who have held my hand every step of the way.”
She concluded by writing, “So, here’s a thought from this septuagenarian - transformations demand that we embrace the unknown. And there’s really no age limit to when you can transform your life. Happy one year anniversary to you and I. Please eat a slice of cake on my behalf today. P.S: just like my first post, this one too was shot in my garden by @tanya.agarwall_ just yesterday . The clothes are from my closet, and I did my own hair and makeup of course.”

For the unversed, Zeenat Aman is an Indian actress and a former model. The Evil Within (1970), starring Dev Anand, marked the former beauty queen's acting debut. She has acted in films like Yaadon Ki Baarat, Qurbani, Dharam Veer, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Insaaf Ka Tarazu among others. The actress will soon return to the silver screen with Faraz Arif Ansari’s next, Bun Tikki. The film will also feature Shabana Azmi. As per reports, the plan is to take the movie on floors by November of this year in Himachal Pradesh. The director plans to talk about parenting and gender identity throughout the movie. Abhay Deol will play the role of a father in the film.
