Yami Gautam on pregnancy, “Motherhood gives you a different kind of confidence”

Mom-to-be Yami Gautam feeling overwhelmed and expressing her happiness on the final leg on pregnnacy.

Actress Yami Gautam Dhar recently discussed her film Article 370, which has been in theatres for over 50 days, as well as her preparation for childbirth.

Aside from her professional achievement this year with Article 370, Yami Gautam is enjoying her final leg of pregnancy. Yami Gautam said the preparation for welcoming the new addition to her and filmmaker Adhitya Dhar’s household are begun.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, she said, “My family is here in Mumbai, my sister (Surilie) is going to join me soon. We are traditional, we don’t really have a concept of making a nursery. Of course there are adjustments, you have to prepare. Baby proofing will happen later when the baby starts running around. My sister, who is a mother, says this is the best phase. I am sure there will be challenges as well, but we will get to know once we are in it. We are just very excited.”

The actress continued, “It (pregnancy) feels really good and so empowering. Motherhood gives you a different kind of confidence and power. I've been working and have been independent all my life and all those things are there. But I suddenly feel so special. Something has changed in me, and that change is for good. I feel like I've developed a different perspective towards things,”

“Being over-emotional during pregnancy is real. So, I'm not endorsing curbing one's feelings but it's also about getting control over them and knowing what's good for me and my baby. My emotions might always be at the surface but is that good for me and my baby? I don't know. I prefer to be happy, eat well and have my family and people I love and comfortable with around me,” Yami Gautam stated while discussing the emotional aspects of pregnancy.

Yami also claimed that she filmed action sequences in Article 370 during the first few months of her pregnancy, citing her husband, Adhitya Dhar, and her crew as sources of strength. She expressed, “It was challenging. It was mentally draining too. I could write a thesis on it. There are so many questions, the firsts are always challenging. Suppose you ask me about motherhood and everything coming together. In that case, I really don't know what I would have done had Aditya not been there by my side, Lokesh bhayiyaa (Dhar) (brother-in-law), and everyone...”

Yami Gautam has recently worked in several films, including OMG 2, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga and Lost.
