As the release date of the hysterically anticipated new Prabhas project The Raja Saab approaches, there is trepidation regarding its box office prospects, particularly in the context of the Dhurandhar wave, which has swept across the Indian cinema.
Even in its fourth week, Dhurandhar refuses to slow down at the box office. As the epoch-defining film races towards the Rs. 1000 crores mark, there are furrowed brows in the film trade.
Would The RajaSaab be able to take on Dhurandhar when it opens on January 9?
“No,” said Roshan Singh, a prominent film exhibitor of Bihar, “Not in the Hindi North belt. There is absolutely zero buzz around The RajaSaab in the Hindi sector. Even in the South, with the Telugu/Tamil version doing roaring business, Dhurandhar and not The RajaSaab would be the no. 1 choice of movie goers when it releases on 9 January.”
Trade Guru Taran Adarsh serves a precautionary vigil to The RajaSaab. “Facing the Dhurandhar juggernaut will be extremely challenging for The RajaSaab. Dhurandhar is not just doing well, it is dominating the box office like a tsunami. The film has struck a rare chord across mass pockets and multiplexes alike, showing no signs of fatigue even in the later weeks. I am sure the Dhurandhar wave will continue for a few more weeks,” he said.
