These are indeed curious times for Arbaaz Khan. While his production Dolly Ki Doli is all set to go on floors later this month, his principle cast is seeing a release of another set of their films on back to back weeks.
“First it was Rajkumarr Rao who was seen in Queen. Then this week there is Sonam Kapoor being seen in Bewakoofiyaan. And in a few days from now, Pulkit Samrat’s O Teri would hit the screens. It is uncanny that each of these films has arrived in March and the lead cast members would now be coming together for another new film of theirs,” informs a source.
As a producer, Arbaaz is keeping a close eye on the kind of feedback that his actors are fetching as well as the box office response to these films. For starters, Queen is a good success, both commercially and critically and though the film primarily belongs to Kangna Ranaut, even Rajkumar is fetching some good appreciation for his grey characterization.
“It is always good to see your leading man showing such good range,” says Arbaaz, “Even though Rajkumar’s part in Dolly Ki Doli is completely different from the kind that we saw in Queen, it is heartening to know that there is so much talent out there waiting to be explored. He has a good range and I am waiting to see him in action for an altogether different role that he has to play in Dolly Ki Doli.”
He is also happy with the way Sonam approached her part in this week’s release Bewakoofiyaan. Though the role didn’t quite demand as much histrionics, as was the case in Sonam’s last release Raanjhanaa, the actress has fitted in well into the rom-com as a young working woman in an urban contemporary set up.
“I think it is a sweet and feel good film. Moreover, Sonam came up with a natural performance and ensured that the smiles were on. Rest assured, she has a challenging outing ahead in Dolly Ki Doli. You would see many more different shades of her in this dramatic fun affair,” ensures Arbaaz.
Meanwhile he is now looking forward to how audience responds to Pulkit Samrat’s act in brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s O Teri. Coming straight from a confident act in box office success Fukrey, he may well have some surprises up his sleeves.
