Alluring and breathtaking, Jacqueline Fernandez is a bold and a beautiful story that needs to be seen on the big screen. I have continued to admire Jacqueline from afar, both because of the roles she chooses and because she brings grace and intelligence to everything she does, except that I just can’t stand her when she is with any other men in her films. I know it isn’t that funny but you can still laugh. But whatever the world says or her co-stars, there’s something about Jacqueline. There’s this cowboy quality about her. In some ways, she is just like some mountain range. She has this vast internal landscape. Once she lets you in, you just marvel at the mountain ranges. There’s a pace to her, and if you want to get to those mountains, it may take a while to get there but you can get there if you put the time in. UK’s Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama‘s London correspondent puts his time and energy to get to the peak and into the mind of the magnificent marvel called Jacqueline Fernandez in this Part 2 exclusive.
“To work with Emraan is effortless”
Emraan has a very nice mystic to him I think. I never met him before shooting for Murder 2 and he always had this dark mysterious kind of image which was really nice. It’s not brash or uncool but it’s really quite and silent. He does a lot of talking through his eyes. When I met him, he hardly spoke to me. We were doing the photo shoot for Murder 2 and he was so conscious about how he would look topless, it was so funny (laughs). He is a really fun person to work with but it doesn’t seem like. To work with Emraan is effortless.
“Mohit Suri has pushed the envelope with Murder 2”
Everyone was expecting a movie on extra marital affairs in Murder 2 but it’s not that. What I like about Mohit Suri is that he has taken it to a completely different scenario. He hasn’t done it in a conventional way too and what you’ll see in Murder 2 will be Mohit’s take on it.
“Murder 2 isn’t a movie where you look pretty and keep smiling”
This was the first movie where I had to do a lot of homework on the character I play, the situation I was put in, etc. Murder 2 isn’t a movie where you look pretty and keep smiling. I had to evoke pain, being attacked wasn’t easy too (laughs). After the day’s shoot, I was so emotionally and mentally drained. It was as good as going into a depression. Murder 2 is meatier all the way.
“If love making is bold, so are suicide scenes and woman giving birth, isn’t it?” I don’t see why a kissing scene or a sex scene is considered to be a taboo when it’s just acting. Then can’t a woman giving birth be a bold scene too? Even a person committing suicide is a bold scene. I don’t understand why is there so much importance on such scenes being called ‘skin show’ scenes. Weird isn’t it? The audiences cannot make out the difference between the actor as a person and the actor as the character and that’s where they go wrong.
“Everytime Mohit told Emraan to get back on the bed; we were controlling our laughter”
Emraan was getting bored doing the love making scenes (laughs). He was like – ‘not again!’ Everytime Mohit told Emraan to get back on the bed; we were controlling our laughter (laughs). Emraan has to put with so much of this, isn’t it?
“We aren’t doing a love making scene to titillate you”
A lot goes into making a scene bold. Madhuri Dixit has done it in Parinda, Dimpleji did it in Jaanbaaz, etc. Those scenes were so convincingly done. We aren’t doing a love making scene to titillate you. We do it to capture a moment between the two characters and continue our story. People should stop being judgemental. We make a movie in all sincerity. In Murder 2, I haven’t got any body double. We as actors should stand up for issues like these because the time has come.
“You won’t find a new Jacqueline Fernandez but just a different facet”
People should expect an edgy racy thriller as far as Murder 2 is concerned. It’s not an erotic film (laughs). The film will definitely closing your eyes at some parts, will scare you, etc. This isn’t anymore Anurag Basu’s Murder because this is Mohit Suri’s Murder and its Murder 2. So expect something strange yet entertaining. As for me, well, you won’t find a new Jacqueline Fernandez but just a different facet.
