Indian Cricket Team Captain Virat Kohli married Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in a royal yet private affair in Italy in the presence of their close family members and friends on Monday, December 11. Away from the hullabaloo of Bollywood and Cricket paparazzi, the couple thoroughly enjoyed their intimate wedding affair.
Sharing images from the wedding, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli wrote, “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”
Just like all the families, Anushka and Virat too enjoyed the pre-wedding rituals with close family members and friends. On one side, Anushka looked happy during her mehendi ceremony while Virat sat beside her. The haldi ceremony took place for Virat as he looked handsome in yellow and white churidaar with black jacket. His sisters and family members applied haldi as he enjoyed the day to the fullest.
For the mehendi ceremony, Anushka wore a graphic lehenga in fuchsia pink and Indian orange. She accessorized the outfit with a stunning pair of jhumkas crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls. Custom juttis in hand woven brocade and zardosi completed the look. Virat, on the other hand, opted for a signature khadi kurta churidaar with textured silk Nehru jacket. A custom tan leather jutti with a zardosi crest was created for the ensemble. Both the looks of the groom and bride were done by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
The couple will return to India soon to host a reception in New Delhi for their relatives on 21st December which will be followed by a reception for industry friends and cricketers in Mumbai on 26th December. Post the reception, they will travel to South Africa where Virat Kohli will start prepping for the upcoming series and Anushka will spend New Year’s Eve with him.
