Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s War is promising to be the biggest action entertainer ever produced by Bollywood. In the film, Hrithik and Tiger will be seen waging a war against each other and it seems like the makers have pulled all stops to make this massive showdown a never seen before action spectacle.
YRF has roped in one of the biggest action directors from Hollywood, Paul Jennings, to design jaw-dropping, never seen before action sequences. War is Paul’s first Bollywood film and he has previously worked in big-budget Hollywood action spectacles like The Dark Knight starring Christian Bale, San Andreas starring Dwayne Johnson, Jack Reacher starring Tom Cruise, Game of Thrones, Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr, among others. Paul announces that the action spectacle in WAR is at par with films like Mission Impossible and Fast and Furious.
“What I love about Bollywood is I believe you can push the action a little bit further. You can do things which push the boundaries of believability right to the edge and it means you can end up with more spectacular sequences. On Bollywood movies, you can sometimes be limited by budget but on WAR Adi (Aditya Chopra) just wanted to make the best action sequences he could so we had a great budget and were able to do anything we liked,” reveals Paul.
“So, I would say there is no difference between the action sequences on WAR and a Hollywood movie except that we pushed the boundaries a little further which only enhances them. There is no difference between the sequences in WAR and let’s say Mission Impossible or Fast and Furious!” Paul boldly says.
WAR brings together two of the biggest action superstars of our country, Hrithik and Tiger. Paul reveals his incredible work experience with them. “They are both truly dedicated actors who work hard every day at their craft of acting which embraces everything from not just their performance but physical training, fighting, dancing, diet etc. So much can be learned from them and how they have managed to stay so humble and human amongst all the attention they receive is quite astounding,” he says.
Paul adds, “We would block out fight sequences as best we could during rehearsal then show the choreography to Hrithik and Tiger who would then inject their character points and show us their particular ‘special action moves’ which we would always try and include. They bring so much talent to the table it was an absolute pleasure to have all the tools that they both have as fighters into the equation. It is because of them and all their input that we were able to take the fights in WAR to a whole new level!”
Touted as the biggest action entertainer of the year, War has been produced by Yash Raj Films. The high-octane film that also stars Vaani Kapoor opposite Hrithik Roshan, is set to release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on the big National Holiday of Gandhi Jayanti, October 2nd.
