Wamiqa Gabbi reveals how she bagged a role in Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor starrer Jab We Met; says, “This was my first opportunity to be on a film set” : Bollywood News

Actress Wamiqa Gabbi, who is currently enjoying the success of her series Jubilee on Prime Video, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, recently responded to her brief appearance in Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met. Her debut film was Jab We Met in 2007, where she played one of Geet's cousins starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. At that time, Wamiqa was still a teenager. In the recent interview she revealed how she received the role.

A 15-second video clip was recently shared on Twitter, and Wamiqa, who was mentioned in the post, responded with, “Oh noh.” In the video, Wamiqa, who was a teenager at the time, was seen playfully teasing her older cousin Geet (played by Kareena Kapoor) when she returned home with Aditya (played by Shahid Kapoor), who the family assumes to be her fiancé.

Recently in an interview with DNA, Wamiqa revealed how she bagged a role in Jab We Met. She said, “I was in eighth class, when I shot for Jab We Met. I was learning dance at an academy and basically, its owner was the coordinator of the Hindi films that were shot in Punjab. So, he told me and my father that there is a film starring Shahid and Kareena and the role is of one of the small sisters of Kareena, so he asked if I would be willing to do it. I said yes. This was my first opportunity to be on a film set. I was like, 'Sure, I would love to be there'. I would love to just be on the set and understand how films are made. That's how I bagged that chance.”

Wamiqa was last seen in Amazon Prime series, Jubilee. She portrayed the character of Niloufer Qureshi, a courtesan from Lucknow who aspires to be an actress and moves to Bombay. She is now set to collaborate with Vishal Bhardwaj for his upcoming Netflix movie Khufiya, which stars Tabu and Ali Fazal.
