Rap icon DIVINE has unveiled his fifth studio album, 'Walking on Water,' marking a decade since his breakthrough reshaped the landscape of Indian hip-hop. Released via his independent label Gully Gang, the 16-track album arrives as a reflective yet assertive body of work that traces the rapper’s journey from Mumbai’s gullies to the global stage.

Positioned as his most expansive project to date, 'Walking on Water' brings together personal storytelling, spiritual themes and genre-spanning production. The album features collaborations with Hanumankind, Gurinder Gill, Riar Saab, MC Altaf, Sammohit and actor Kalyani Priyadarshan, while production credits include ZZORAWAR, Stunnah Beatz and Phenom. Alongside original compositions, DIVINE incorporates reinterpretations of iconic Bollywood tracks, sampling A.R. Rahman’s ‘Kehna Hi Kya’ from Bombay, R.D. Burman’s ‘Mehbooba Mehbooba’ from Sholay, and ‘Give Me Some Sunshine’ from 3 Idiots, blending nostalgia with contemporary hip-hop sensibilities.

The album reflects on themes of resilience, self-belief and spiritual grounding, while retaining the street-rooted urgency that has defined DIVINE’s career. Across the tracklist, he moves fluidly between trap, Afro-pop, minimal introspection and high-energy cyphers, presenting a sonic range that mirrors his evolution over ten years in the spotlight. Songs like ‘Walking on Water (Intro)’ and ‘Triple OG’ address legacy and dominance, while tracks such as ‘Drama’ and ‘Rain’ offer quieter, introspective moments rooted in lived experience.

Speaking about the album, DIVINE said, “This album is a declaration of evolution, dominance, reflection and spiritual grounding—celebrating everything I’ve built and everything I’ve survived. It’s an album for the streets. For the culture. For the believers. And for those who doubted.”

Over the years, DIVINE has emerged as one of the few Indian hip-hop artists to consistently break international barriers, collaborating with global names such as Nas, Pusha T, Vince Staples, Jadakiss, Russ and KSHMR, while maintaining a strong connection to his roots. 'Walking on Water' reinforces that balance, presenting an artist who continues to prioritise the album format as a complete experience rather than a collection of singles.

Beyond being a milestone in DIVINE’s own journey, the album also reflects the growing global presence of Indian hip-hop and its expanding cultural influence. Rooted in Mumbai’s streets yet designed to travel across borders, 'Walking on Water' stands as both a personal testament and a broader statement on how far the genre — and DIVINE himself — has come over the past decade.
