The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri has said that he is "seriously considering" directing a film based on the Mahabharata. In an interview with Times Now, Agnihotri said that he has been reading, researching, and analysing the Mahabharat for his entire life. He said that he wants to make the film "like history" and not "mythology."
The filmmaker told the portal, “I don’t know why everybody is saying I am making Mahabharat, so I am seriously considering why not. I have spent all my life reading, researching, analysing, and incorporating (it in) my own life, in my speeches. But I (don’t) want to make it like mythology.”
He further added, “If I have to make it, I will make it like history. Others are making something for the box office, and I am going to make it for the people. Secondly, they made it to glorify Arjun, Bheem, and others. For me, Mahabharat is what is dharma versus Adharma.”
Coming to the professional front, the 49-year-old director is currently working on his upcoming film, The Vaccine War, which is based on India's battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is scheduled to be released in 2023.
