Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has heaped praise on Aditya Dhar’s latest spy thriller Dhurandhar 2, while also offering a word of caution about the challenges that come with success in the film industry. The film, headlined by Ranveer Singh, has been performing strongly at the box office and continues to generate buzz.
Taking to social media, Vivek shared that he went out of his way to watch the film during a visit to the United States. “I was in the countryside of California, finally made a trip to LA just to watch Dhurandhar. Shabash. Bravo. Brilliant once again,” he wrote, adding that the film speaks for itself and hardly needs additional praise.
The filmmaker particularly highlighted the technical brilliance of the film, giving special recognition to its cinematography and production design. He commended cinematographer Vikash Nowlakha and production designer Saini Johray for their work, noting how the seamless coordination between the two elevated the film.
“In cinema, the camera and production design are married to each other. Unless both are in complete harmony, a film cannot rise to the level of a masterpiece,” Vivek wrote, calling their contribution “groundbreaking” and one that will serve as a benchmark for years to come.
While his post was largely celebratory, Vivek ended it with a note of caution for Aditya. Drawing from his own experience in the industry, he warned about the “ecosystem” that often surrounds success.
“And Aditya, just an unsolicited word from experience: You are sharp, and you know your path. Just stay mindful of the ecosystem, it can be as vicious as it is seductive,” he wrote.
Dhurandhar 2 has been receiving attention not just for its scale and storytelling, but also for its technical finesse, with audiences and industry insiders alike praising its visual execution. Vivek’s reaction adds to the growing chorus of appreciation, even as his cautionary note sheds light on the complexities of navigating success in the film industry.
