Actor-producer Viveck Vaswani has spoken about why he did not collaborate again with Salman Khan after their 1991 film Patthar Ke Phool, despite the film’s success. In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani, Vaswani addressed his professional choices and the working environments he prefers.

Vaswani stated that he was never inclined to pursue further projects with Salman Khan following their initial collaboration. Explaining his stance, he said, “I cannot work jaha log daru pite hai,” indicating his discomfort with certain on-set environments. At the same time, he acknowledged Salman Khan’s professionalism in specific setups, suggesting that his decision was not based on the actor’s work ethic but rather on personal preferences regarding workplace culture.
Reflecting on the industry during the early phase of his career, Vaswani also expressed a sense of nostalgia. “We were more human then,” he said, commenting on what he described as a shift in how the film industry functions today. He further spoke about the importance of writers in filmmaking, referencing veteran screenwriter Salim Khan. “Salim saab was there, you have to respect the writer,” he said, underlining the value he places on storytelling and creative contributions behind the scenes.
Discussing the current landscape, Vaswani noted a change in how actors are approached in the industry. “They want Salman the actor, not the star,” he said, suggesting that filmmakers today are more focused on performance-driven roles rather than star image alone.
Patthar Ke Phool, released in 1991, marked an early milestone in Salman Khan’s career and was co-produced by Vaswani. The film went on to perform well commercially, but the two did not collaborate again in the years that followed.
