Vishal Dadlani took to social media to criticize AI’s use of Ghibli’s iconic art style and asked his fans not to tag him in posts featuring his Ghibli-style avatar.

Vishal Dadlani shared a note and wrote, “Sorry I’m not sharing any of the Studio Ghibli style images you guys have made of or for me. I just can’t bring myself to support AI’s plagiarisation of an artist’s life’s work.”

He also highlighted AI’s environmental impact, adding, “Not to mention, the environmental horror that those images are. Please do NOT make any more. Thank you.”

Many celebrities have joined the viral Ghibli trend, sharing AI-generated versions of themselves in the iconic animation style. Kiara Advani and Parineeti Chopra posted their Ghibli-inspired avatars on social media, while Amitabh Bachchan shared his own Ghibli-style edits from a recent fan meet on his blog, writing, “And Ghibli… invades the world… in the reality of the realm of communication… and the making of the ‘reel’… another now popular concept… one which demands attention.”

Vishal Dadlani is known for hit songs like ‘Dhoom Again,’ ‘Kurban Hua,’ ‘Jee Le Zara,’ ‘Marjaiyann,’ ‘I Feel Good,’ ‘Jab Mila Tu,’ ‘Tu Meri,’ ‘Swag Se Swagat,’ ‘Bala,’ ‘Har Funn Maula,’ and ‘Khuda Hafiz.’

As the vocalist of the band Pentagram, some of his notable tracks include ‘Voice,’ ‘Tomorrow’s Decided,’ ‘Must I,’ ‘Love Drug Climbdown,’ and more.

As a music director, he has composed songs for films such as Om Shanti Om, Anjaana Anjaani, Dostana, I Hate Luv Storys, Bang Bang!, Sultan, Student of the Year, Befikre, and War.
