Vijay Varma says “Pink was a wake-up call for me” as he opens up about doing experimental characters : Bollywood News

Vijay Varma, who recently played another intriguing character in Murder Mubarak, has been loved for his versatility. The actor has played several multi-faceted characters with layers including grey shaded roles in films like Pink, Darlings, and also the Prime Video web-series Dahaad, among others. But other than the grey shade he has also been doing other kinds of unique characters which are more experimental in nature.

Now the actor feels that he needs to experiment with the characters which are outside this grey zone to showcase the other aspects of his characters which go untapped. When he was asked about the turning point of his career Vijay quipped " When I did Pink, I didn't know the repercussions of playing a negative character. But soon after I realised that everybody wants me to play negative characters, I was inundated with that offers."

It's quite evident in Bollywood that people easily typecast a character and then it becomes difficult to get out of it and he wants to work hard to break this trap. He continued, "People do start seeing you in a certain way if something has worked. So, when I realised that I chose to do different roles to not let that perception get to me. I wasn't worried because I also had films and series like Jaane Jaan and Kalkoot. It's just takes one good performance to break the stereotype and I know I had that in me."

In the past few projects, Vijay has proved his versatility by choosing roles which are gradually different from one another and has shattered the myth about his association with only grey characters. Speaking of his forthcoming ventures, Vijay Varma will be next seen in Ul Jalool Ishq along with web-shows like Matka King, Mirzapur 3, IC814- The Kandahar Hijack.
