Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi has had a whirlwind year in Hindi cinema. After a debut on Prime Video's Farzi last year, he shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in the action-thriller Jawan in 2023 and most recently appeared in Sriram Raghavan's Merry Christmas alongside Katrina Kaif in 2024.

Working with Shah Rukh Khan seems to have left a lasting impression on Sethupathi. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, he spoke about the immense respect he holds for the Bollywood superstar. He was particularly struck by Khan's unwavering energy, even when battling illness on set. “One day, during the shoot, he was unwell but you just can't figure it out unless he tells you,” Sethupathi said. “That's an amazing quality he has.”

Sethupathi revealed that Khan, along with legendary Tamil actors Rajinikanth and Vijay, have praised his performance. “He [SRK] shared a lot of things about me which I felt very happy about,” he said. “Even what Rajinikanth and Vijay have said about me makes me really happy. I felt happy that they noticed so many aspects about me and my performances.”

However, despite the success of Jawan, Sethupathi seems to be steering away from villainous roles. He explained that playing an antagonist often leads to comparisons with the lead actor, something he isn't interested in. “I would instead want to do romantic films,” he revealed.

On the work front, Vijay Sethupathi prepares for the release of his 50th South Indian film, Maharaja, releasing on June 14.
