The first film that Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan came together for was Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ambitious film Yaara. While we await the release of the same, the duo has signed another film- a sleek action drama to be directed by Vaastav director Mahesh Manjrekar. The actor-filmmaker announced the film which is also set against the backdrop of a family feud. While the untitled venture has already gone on floor, here’s yet another intense look from the film.
The new look of this Mahesh Manjrekar directorial features Vidyut Jammwal in his gangster avatar whereas Shruti is seen in a demure and de-glam look. But we hear that Haasan’s character is quite strong in this film. As for Vidyut, he essays the role of a stylish gangster. Speaking on the film, Vidyut revealed that the project has been under discussion for quite some time now. But when he heard the script, he fell in love with the same.
Vidyut Jammwal described his character as a modern-day gangster. He also stated that the filmmaker and producer Vijay Galani was looking to present the role of a gangster in a different manner. He went on to add that he is very stylishly dressed in the film. What also has left Vidyut thrilled was how Mahesh Manjrekar complimented him stating that he finds him as a perfect example of an alpha male on the screen after Sanjay Dutt.
The yet-to-be-titled film will also see the reunion of veterans like Naseeruddin Shah and Amol Palekar after a long time. Besides them, another person who has joined the star cast is Salil Ankola. Salil, who is known for his performances in films like Kurukshetra, is expected to be seen in a never-before-seen avatar.
Salil Ankola was reportedly quoted saying that his character is that of a ruthless killer who talks less. He also mentioned that the film is high on action and he needs to look tough yet in a non-villainous way. Salil stated that Mahesh, who is an old friend of his, decided to approach him after keeping in mind the love Ankola has for fitness.
As for the film itself, it will be shot extensively in Maharashtra until the end of June. Vidyut has asserted that if all goes well, the film will be completed in one schedule itself.
