Vicky Kaushal says Indian Army was happy he was doing Sam Bahadur: “They were very encouraging” : Bollywood News

Actor Vicky Kaushal is set for the third release of the year after Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and The Great Indian Family. He will embody the role of Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur. With a month left for the release of the film, the trailer was unveiled on Tuesday. At a special event held at the Manekshaw Centre in the national capital on Tuesday, Vicky spoke about the challenges he faced while shooting for the project.

Vicky Kaushal said, “Jab bhi Indian Army ki uniform pehni hoti hai na toh pehle joh responsibility ka ehsaas hota hai ki aap isko halke main nahi le sakte. Yeh aapko bahut shiddat ke saath, bahut sincerity ke saath aur bahut honesty ke saath nibhana hoga (When you wear the Indian Army’s uniform, you feel a responsibility towards it and cannot take it lightly. You have to do it with utmost sincerity and honesty).”

The actor continued, “Mere liye sabse badi validation hoti hai when the army approves of my film and my performance when I wear my uniform. We have given it our all. With every minute detail, whether it’s a ribbon or a medal, I don’t think there’s any mistake at all. I used to meet the Indian Army and they were very encouraging and used to say that we are so happy that you’re doing this film. End main phir dara dete the, ‘Theek se karna, you’re playing our best man.'”

This biopic is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw whose military career spanned four decades and five wars. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and the decisive victory of the Indian Army in the 1971 Indo-Pak war was under his command as Chief of Army Staff. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan, the second and third highest civilian awards in India.

Produced by RSVP Movies, the film will hit the theatres on 1st December 2023. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Sanya Malhotra will play his wife, Silloo – Manekshaw’s pillar and strength. Fatima Sana Shaikh steps into the shoes of Indira Gandhi, the country’s first female Prime Minister.
