Vicky Kaushal has, over the years, carved a place for himself in mainstream Bollywood. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, his last film that released earlier this year, largely helped in solidifying his position as a popular and likeable young actor. The movie went onto earn over Rs. 100 crores at the India box office. But Vicky has now revealed that not many people expected Zara Hatke Zara Bachke to do well at the box office when it released in theatres.

In an interview with Indian Express, Vicky said, “I’m thankful from the bottom of my heart for what happened with Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. The credit goes to people for showering love on the songs, story, and film. It was really special. It came at a time when some experts were saying such films will not work, and that this movie is meant for OTT.”

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke starred Sara Ali Khan opposite Vicky. The film was the story of a couple.

Interestingly, Vicky’s next film is also a family saga tiled The Great Indian Family. He said in the same interview that it was always his dream to do a film produced by Yash Raj Films. The movie is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya.

Throwing light on the film’s subject, Vicky said in the same interview, “The film is set in a fictional town named Balrampur. Bhajan Kumar is the Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson of Balrampur. He enjoys that rockstar feel. The attention that he gets, the celebration that he gets to be a part of, he enjoys that. Whether it is jagrata or birthday or mundan, he will go and spread his magic. This song (‘Kanhaiya Twitter Pe Aaja’) brings that out incredibly, and that’s why, before the trailer came out, we thought to bring this song out.”

The Great Indian Family stars Manushi Chhillar opposite Vicky. The film is all set to release in theatres on September 22.
