Renowned actor Vicky Kaushal, known for his captivating performances in films like Masaan and Uri: The Surgical Strike, has expressed his keen interest in exploring sports-oriented films. During a promotional event for his upcoming movie Sam Bahadur in Kolkata, Kaushal revealed his fascination with sports-based stories and their ability to showcase the dedication and resilience of athletes.

"I would love to do something sports-oriented," he stated. "It gives you the opportunity to learn skills. As an actor and sports lover, I would love to do that." Kaushal, who has impressed audiences with his diverse range of roles, is open to portraying either real-life or fictional sports personalities. He mentioned enjoying sports biopics like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag but stated his willingness to take on fictional characters as well.

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that Kaushal's younger brother, Sunny Kaushal, had previously starred in the sports film Gold. Inspired by the real-life achievements of the Indian hockey team, the Akshay Kumar starrer was released in 2018.

Coming back to Sam Bahadur, produced by RSVP Movies, it also features Sanya Malhotra as Manekshaw's wife Silloo and Fatima Sana Shaikh as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The script has been penned by Bhavani Iyer, Shantanu Shrivastava, and Gulzar. The Meghna Gulzar directorial is scheduled to hit theatres on December 1, 2023, clashing with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal.
