Trade, industry and fans are all praise for Sidharth Malhotra in Shershaah’s trailer; believe that it can be his BEST work till date

en Bollywood News Trade, industry and fans are all praise for Sidharth Malhotra in Shershaah’s trailer; believe that it can be his BEST work till date

For a long time in Bollywood, films based on real-life war incidents have always found acceptance from the audiences. For the actors who play real-life heroes, these films turn out to be one of the milestones in their careers. This has been evident right from one of the first war films of Bollywood, Haqeeqat (1964). Dharmendra has worked in several memorable films but Haqeeqat always finds a mention when one speaks of some of his finest films. The same applies to several other actors too who have delved into the war genre.

And now, Sidharth Malhotra seems to be in the august company as he’s all set to be seen in Shershaah. Based on the life of the Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra, it will premiere on Amazon Prime on August 12 and has already excited audiences thanks to its impactful and well-cut trailer.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh opined, “If the trailer works, one automatically gets excited to watch the film. In the case of Shershaah, the trailer has been very interesting and well-made that highlights what the film is all about. We have read about how Captain Vikram Batra fought the war and to see the real life story on screen would be something to look forward to. We have been making commercial, fiction films but it’s time to pay tribute and salute our heroes. I think Shershaah should do that.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan said, “The trailer is very good and Sidharth Malhotra looks apt for the role.” Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, was all praises as he stated, “I loved the trailer of Shershaah. I would have loved to watch the film on the big screen.”

What has also surprised the trade, industry and the fans is how effortlessly Sidharth Malhotra has slipped into the part. Physically, he’s ideal as he has the height and build to look convincing as a soldier. Not all actors have that kind of physique and hence, look-wise, Sidharth got it right. But from the trailer and the song, it is evident that Sidharth Malhotra has also managed to give a fine performance. That in times of negativity and trolling, Sidharth has only got appreciation from all quarters is proof that audiences have accepted him in the role and are looking forward to seeing him in the film.

Also, we should not forget that war and patriotic films are held sacred and audiences would not mince words if they feel it’s not up to the mark. However, with Shershaah, there’s only positivity all around and this is truly a feat.

It’s no surprise that audiences are eagerly waiting for August 12 to catch the Karan Johar production in the comfort of their homes. That it releases in the Independence Day week can prove to be an added advantage. And expectations are skyhigh from Sidharth Malhotra.

Taran Adarsh stated, “I liked what I had seen of Sidharth Malhotra in the trailer of Shershaah. The trailer did impress me a great deal. I genuinely feel that this could be the turning point of his career.” He also added, “If he portrays the character right and if the director handles the subject very well, then I think we might see a completely new Sidharth Malhotra.”

Atul Mohan predicted, “This could be Sidharth Malhotra’s career-changing role. It looks like he’s going to get an immense appreciation for his role. This will benefit Sidharth in the long run.” Even Girish Johar had the same viewpoint, “The trailer has been very promising and I would not be surprised if this turns out to be his best work. I hope he grows from strength to strength.”

Sidharth Malhotra will complete 9 films this year in October. He had a smashing debut with Student Of The Year (2012) along with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Both the latter actors in these 9 years have done a little more number of films than Sidharth. The trade and even his fans hope that he can do more films and thereby showcase his talent in more films.

As Girish Johar remarked, “He’s a very promising actor and a very budding star. He has to do more films. I understand actors tend to be choosy. But you have to take risks. That’s the nature of this game. As a producer and a film expert, I’d personally want to see him do more and more films. The more films he does, the more experience and credibility he’ll gain. He has all the makings of a star of the future.”

Produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment, Shershaah will premiere on Amazon Prime on August 12
