Sunny Deol, who is awaiting the release of the sequel of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, has said that people should respect others' choices in how they lead their lives. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Deol was asked if he believes his films have inspired people to engage in cross-border relationships. He said that he does not believe so and that people are free to make their own choices.

The conversation started with the mention of Seema Haider, a Pakistan resident who came to India to marry her “lover” from Greater Noida, and Anju, who crossed the international border to be with her Pakistani “friend”. When asked if his films were motivating people to engage in relationships across borders, the Bollywood actor chuckled.

Deol asserted, “Nowadays, technology facilitates people meeting through apps. Once they develop feelings for each other, they naturally want to meet and be together. Instead of criticising or concerning ourselves with such matters, we should respect their choices, as it’s their personal life. Whether it’s right or wrong is for them to decide.”

Deol also spoke about his own approach to life, saying that he does not follow the news or read newspapers. "I used to focus solely on the sports pages," he said. "News has become more like a commodity now."

Coming back to Gadar 2, the film is slated to release on August 11. Besides Deol, it will star Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa and Gaurav Chopra. The Anil Sharma directorial will be clashing with Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s Oh My God 2.
