Bollywood actor Sunny Deol made his first public appearance since the passing of his father, veteran star Dharmendra, on November 24. The actor appeared at the teaser launch of his upcoming film Border 2, held in Mumbai on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. The moment was marked by quiet emotion, as Sunny addressed the audience while continuing to mourn his personal loss.
The Border 2 teaser was unveiled at a grand event attended by the film’s cast, including Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty. During the interaction, Sunny delivered one of the film’s key dialogues, “Awaaz kahan tak jaani chahiye?” As the audience responded with, “Lahore tak,” he repeated the line with the same intensity seen in the teaser. However, what stood out was Sunny visibly holding back tears, making the moment especially moving. The appearance marked his first public outing since his father’s demise.
Dharmendra had been hospitalised in early November due to health-related concerns and was later discharged and brought home for recovery. At the time, rumours regarding his death had circulated but were dismissed by his daughter Esha Deol and wife Hema Malini. On November 24, Dharmendra passed away and was cremated at the Pawan Hans crematorium in the presence of close family members. Several members of the film industry, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, were present to pay their last respects.
Recently, Sunny shared a video of Dharmendra enjoying a mountain view on the occasion of his 90th birth anniversary. Accompanying the clip, he wrote that his father continued to live within him and expressed how deeply he missed him.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is a war drama presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s JP Films. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. It features Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty in lead roles, along with Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Angad Singh, Guneet Sandhu and Paramvir Cheema in supporting roles.
Based on the 1971 Indo-Pak War, Border 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026, ahead of the Republic Day weekend.
