The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious in the IPL 2024 final, defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a convincing display at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The win was even more special for the team's co-owner, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was present at the stadium to celebrate with his family because AbRam Khan rang in his 11th birthday on May 27 post midnight at the stadium.
Just days after being hospitalized for heatstroke and dehydration, Shah Rukh Khan displayed his dedication to his team by attending the final. He was joined by his wife, Gauri Khan, their children Suhana, Aryan, and AbRam, as well as manager Pooja Dadlani. Suhana's friends, Ananya Panday and Shanaya Kapoor, were also spotted cheering for KKR in the stands.
Shah Rukh Khan's presence at the match symbolized his full recovery and unwavering support for the team. Clad in a purple tee while Gauri sported the KKR jersey, Shah Rukh Khan showcased a celebratory spirit. A video that went viral captured him replicating a cricket pose, spreading his arms in joy and mimicking a sixer swing with his hands.
Adding to the celebratory spirit, Shah Rukh Khan's son, AbRam, turned 11 on the very day of the finals. The little Khan celebrated his birthday with his family and the KKR players, experiencing a double dose of joy – his birthday and the team's victory. Videos showed AbRam, sporting a special KKR t-shirt with "Champions of 2024" printed on it, cherishing the win alongside his sister Suhana at the stadium. Suhana even shared an adorable picture on her Instagram story, capturing AbRam's birthday celebration on the ground. “Good day to be the birthday boy,” Suhana wrote.
KKR dominated the IPL 2024 season, exhibiting remarkable consistency throughout. They secured an impressive record of 9 wins, 3 losses, and 1 no-result in the group stage, excelling in both batting and bowling. Their dominance continued into the playoffs, dismantling SRH with an 8-wicket victory, a feat they replicated in the finals.
The win marked a momentous occasion for the Kolkata Knight Riders, etching their name in IPL history for the third time. KKR lifted their third winning trophy a decade later.
