Anil Kapoor and his incredible 40-year journey in cinema were celebrated in a grand fashion at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Subedaar, held at a restobar by the beach in Mumbai. It was also graced by actors Radhikka Madan, Kushboo Sundar, Mona Singh, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal and Faisal Malik along with Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals at Prime Video India, producer Vikram Malhotra and director Suresh Triveni. As expected, Anil Kapoor took the cake but towards the end, Saurabh Shukla raised a lot of laughs as well.
A journalist told Saurabh Shukla that he’s confident that Subedaar would be counted in the same league as his previous films with Anil like Taal (1999), Nayak (2001), Slumdog Millionaire (2009) etc. The journalist also claimed that in an interview, Saurabh Shukla claimed that ‘You don’t try to act and that you present yourself in that situation’.
Saurabh Shukla replied, “Thank you so much for saying that Subedaar will also be remembered like the other films. Also, you claimed that I mentioned in an interview that I don’t act as such while shooting. Yeh bilkul jhoot hai. I wonder where you read it or heard it. Please don’t say such things. Logon ko lagega main kaam karta nahin hoon. Pehle hi paise kam milte hain. Mujhe aur kam paise dena shuru kar denge! I work very hard.”
He continued, “It's not that I don’t like myself. I do like myself. But when people like me, I fail to understand that ‘aisi kya khoobi hai mere mein ki log itna pasand kar rahe hai mujhe’! But I guess there must be something.”
Saurabh Shukla further said, “I request that you should tell people that ‘Saurabh bahut zyada mehnat karta hai. He stays hungry day and night as he’s working hard. Hence, please pay him more’!”
Subedaar releases on Amazon Prime Video on March 5.
