Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood continues to win hearts beyond the screen as he leads a large-scale rehabilitation effort in flood-affected regions of Punjab. After the state witnessed severe flooding that left several families homeless, the actor stepped in with a mission focused not just on immediate relief, but on rebuilding lives from the ground up.
Standing firmly beside him is his sister Malvika Sood, who has been actively working on-site in Punjab. From meeting families personally to assessing the damage, she has played a crucial role in ensuring that help reaches those who need it the most.
Sharing his experience from visiting the affected areas, Sonu Sood said, “We saw that the floods in Punjab caused a lot of trouble to the people. We all went on the ground and saw. So, in all these months, we monitored those families, those houses, whose houses were destroyed and flooded during these floods and those families did not have a roof.” He further went on to ad, “Sucharity Foundation and EKL CSR Foundation together talked to those families, went to their houses, understood their problems and made a promise that no matter how many houses there are, 200, 250, 300, no matter how many houses there are, we will make sure that every person has a roof over their head. My sister, Malvika Sood, lives in Punjab. They personally went and talked to those families and decided to solve the problems of those families.”
Instead of limiting efforts to short-term aid, the initiative has focused on constructing permanent homes for those who lost everything. Over the past few months, Sonu Sood and his team have closely tracked the situation, identifying families whose houses were completely destroyed and prioritising their rehabilitation.

Highlighting the progress made so far, the actor added, “Today, more than 100 houses have been built and many more are yet to be built. But I promise you that in these floods, we will bring back the roofs of the families whose roofs have been destroyed.”
Echoing his commitment, Malvika Sood emphasized the emotional connection driving their work. She said, “Punjab is home, and standing by its people in their toughest time is not a choice, but a responsibility. We are committed to seeing this through until every family has a safe roof over their head.”
With construction already underway on several more homes, the initiative continues to gather momentum. In an industry often associated with glamour, Sonu Sood’s consistent efforts on the ground serve as a reminder of the real impact celebrities can create—restoring not just houses but hope and dignity for countless families.
