Bollywood actress and global fashion icon Sonam Kapoor turned heads at the London Fashion Week on Sunday, attending the Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear showcase by celebrated British-Turkish designer Erdem Moralıoğlu. The venue, the historic British Museum, provided the perfect backdrop for a show that merged heritage with innovation — and Sonam added her own powerful twist to the evening.
The actress graced the event in a custom Erdem gown embroidered with intricate Godawan bird motifs. Known as the Great Indian Bustard, the Godawan is currently listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List. The motifs, designed in deep cobalt blue, were both striking and symbolic, representing the fragile beauty of a species on the brink of extinction.
Sonam’s fashion statement doubled as a cultural and environmental gesture. The gown paid tribute to the ongoing conservation efforts in India, which have helped the Great Indian Bustard population recover from just 100 individuals at the start of the initiative to 173 today, thanks to projects supported by Diageo India.
