The Jubilee actor opened up about how his connection to Jammu and Kashmir influenced two of his most prominent roles.

Actor Sidhant Gupta has spoken about how his upbringing in Jammu continues to shape his artistic choices, particularly when it comes to some of the most significant roles in his career so far. While the actor is now based in Mumbai for work, he says his connection to Jammu and its proximity to Kashmir remains an important part of his creative journey.

Sidhant, who gained wide recognition for playing Jay Khanna in the period drama series Jubilee, pointed out an interesting coincidence about the backgrounds of two of his most prominent characters. “It's fascinating how two of my most prominent roles hailed from not too far from Jammu. To think of it, must have helped in being casted. My breakthrough role of Jay Khanna in Jubilee was from Karachi, which was a part of India then. And the recent role of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was born in Kashmir. We're obviously one state,” he said.

In addition to Jay Khanna, Sidhant recently portrayed Jawaharlal Nehru, a historical figure born in Kashmir. The actor noted that while the geographical connection may appear coincidental, his familiarity with the cultural and emotional landscape of the region possibly added depth to his performances.

Growing up in Jammu, Sidhant frequently visited Kashmir, experiences he says left a lasting impression. Over time, those early memories evolved into a more informed understanding of the region’s complex history, particularly while preparing to portray Nehru. “How I have cherished my visits to Kashmir growing up! But beyond that, I got to study and understand the trauma of Kashmir. I wonder if fiction will ever match up to the reality that people of Kashmir have lived,” he reflected.

Sidhant’s comments suggest that for him, regional identity is not merely biographical detail but an active influence on his craft. Rather than viewing his roots as nostalgia, he describes them as a source of perspective that informs the emotional layers he brings to his roles. When asked about moments that make him feel most connected to his hometown, the actor offered a personal response. “Yes, every time my performance is appreciated. I see smiling faces from back home flashing in my head,” he said.

As Sidhant continues to take on diverse characters across genres, he maintains that his sense of belonging to Jammu remains central to his journey — both on and off screen.
