Mirzapur fans, rejoice! Actress Shweta Tripathi is all set to return as the fiercely intelligent yet grounded Gajgamini “Golu” Gupta in Mirzapur: The Movie. The film, which has recently completed its first shooting schedule in Benaras, will take audiences back to the early days of the series — the same gritty, unpredictable world that redefined Indian crime drama.
Shweta, who became a household name for her layered portrayal of Golu, revealed that this film will revisit the bookworm phase of her character — long before violence and revenge consumed her. “It feels like a great call back to where it all began,” she said, reflecting on her journey through the franchise. “Golu has grown so much through the seasons, but to go back and relive her bookworm phase is both exciting and a huge challenge. Revisiting that innocence and recreating her early world is something very special for me as an actor. And of course, it feels like a reunion of Guddu and Golu. To meet Guddu Pandit again is like meeting your best friend after school vacation — that same kind of excitement of meeting my best friend Ali Fazal again.”
