Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur recently shared his views on love and relationships, highlighting the importance of respect in navigating different stages of connection.

During a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, Kapur addressed his numerous past relationships, stating, "I have had many relationships. Without romance, I don't have a life. However, I never had a relationship that didn't have respect."

This statement comes in the wake of comments made by his former wife, actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who alluded to infidelity during their eight-year marriage in a separate interview. The Mr India director elaborated on his perspective, saying, "The nature of the relationship changed. Though it didn't have romance, sexual or the promise to live with each other, that relationship remained.”

The renowned filmmaker further added, “When you get to know a person so much in a relationship then how do you leave that? If that relationship didn't have respect, then it would not remain. All my relationships, of whichever type, they always had/have respect and which is why they all are my friends."

Suchitra, in her conversation with Siddharth Kannan, attributed the breakdown of their marriage to disrespect rather than infidelity itself, stating, "I don't think marriages break because of infidelity, they break up because of disrespect."

For the unversed, Suchitra and Shekhar were married for eight long years. They tied the knot in 1999 and parted ways in 2007.
