Shatrughan Sinha calls Shah Rukh Khan a “National Star” at KIFF; watch latter’s reaction : Bollywood News

On the occasion of his 57th birthday, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan had dropped the teaser of his much-awaited film Pathaan. As soon as he released the teaser, it created a buzz in no time. However, post the release of Pathaan’s first song, ‘Besharam Rang’, the film and the actor are surrounded by controversy and online hate. Meanwhile, he recently attended the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival on Thursday, along with a bunch of peers from the entertainment industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, and Rani Mukerji.

While addressing the crowd, Shatrughan Sinha shared some kind words for SRK. In a video from the event, Sinha can be heard saying, “We would like to dedicate this evening to make it clear that there is no need to call Shah Rukh Khan by his name. Instead, just say National Star and it stands for Shah Rukh Khan. Thank you.”

The crowd can be heard hooting and cheering for the Bollywood actor while he blushes after getting the compliment from the veteran actor.

Not only this, but King Khan also won hearts at KIFF by delivering a speech in Bengali. He also revealed that his co-star Rani Mukerji helped him to prepare the speech.

On the other hand, Khan also addressed the hate campaign running against Pathaan. In his speech, he said, “Social media is often driven by a certain narrowness of view that limits human nature to its baser self. I read somewhere that negativity increases social media consumption and thereby increases its commercial value as well. Such pursuits enclose the collective narrative, making it divisive and destructive.”

Talking about Pathaan, the spy-thriller, directed by Siddharth Anand and produced under YRF’s banner, is slated to release on January 25, 2023. The forthcoming film also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
