Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore recently attended an event in Delhi called Breaking the Boundaries: An Accidental Actor to an Idol. The actress discussed a variety of subjects during the interview, including her earlier roles, the iconic bikini scene from An Evening in Paris, and her romance with the late cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi aka Tiger Pataudi.

Sharmila claimed that it surprised the general public as well as the film industry. The seasoned actor continued by saying that at the time, inquiries regarding it were made even in the Parliament. Sharmila told how her mother-in-law was coming to town, so she requested her driver to take down a movie poster from close to her house in the middle of the night.

Speaking about the reaction to her film An Evening In Paris, Times of India quoted Sharmila Tagore saying, “When I did An Evening In Paris, my bikini scene was shocking. The public, including the industry, was quite surprised. I believe there were questions asked in Parliament at that time. Although it looks very innocent now, compared to the kind of films we see today.” She added, “I remember there was a poster of the film on the road (near her home), and my mother-in-law was coming to town, so I got my driver to take down that poster in the middle of the night – not realising that there might be other posters on the way from the airport.”

On the professional front, Sharmila Tagore’s OTT film, which is helmed by Rahul Chittella, Gulmohar released today on Disney+ Hotstar to a good response. The actress returned to silver screen after 12 years. She was previously seen in Break Ke Baad featuring Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan.
