Sharad Kelkar recalls memorable encounter with Shah Rukh Khan when he was a “TV person” : Bollywood News

With films like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bhoomi, and Laxmii in his kitty, actor Sharad Kelkar has become a household name. However, before becoming a big-screen star, Sharad started his acting career with TV. Recently, reflecting on his journey, the actor recalled a piece of advice that he received from Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.

In an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Kelkar remembered an incident that happened roughly 15 years ago during an overseas show. He asserted, “It was either Singapore or London, I can’t remember. I was part of a three-day carnival where you get two slots and you have to interact with the audience. I was supposed to go on stage after Shah Rukh sir. As per the schedule, I was supposed to be done by 11 so I told my wife that we will go out shopping after that.

Sharad mentioned that Shah Rukh deviated from the schedule and prolonged his performance when he took the stage. Sharad was conscious of the time and frequently checked his watch as he had committed to being with his wife. When Shah Rukh eventually concluded his set and came off stage, it was already 11 o'clock.

He further added, “I said ‘sir, you were supposed to be on the stage for half an hour but you were there for an hour and a half’. He said, ‘I work more than I am paid for’. He did not need to tell me this. He might not have known who I am, I was a TV person. But he also respected that I’m an actor. And if I am here, I must have done something.”

Sharad expressed his belief that regardless of his workplace within the entertainment industry, he always received ample space and respect. He concluded by affirming this notion.
