It’s been 16 years since Jab We Met was first released in theatres. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, the film was helmed by Imtiaz Ali. Even 16 years later, the film is a beloved romance drama of all time. The film was re-released in theatres during Valentine’s 2023 week in selected cinemas in the country and the cinemas were going houseful. Videos from theatres have been going viral as the fans were enjoying the movie. Shahid Kapoor had even surprised the fans with his unplanned appearance. The actor thinks that such films happen once in two decades.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Shahid Kapoor said, "We re-released Jab We Met recently and a lot of people are now asking me why I ain’t doing a film like this again. I feel, Jab We Met happens once in two decades and it’s not like an everyday film. Most of the film one does in this genre are bad, so one needs to pick up a decent script. In fact, Imtiaz (Ali, director) and I were also chatting to find something in this space again. I want to do something fun and exciting."

Shahid Kapoor, during Farzi promotions, had made a surprise appearance at PVR Cinemas in Juhu. The actor arrived towards the end of the film when the ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’ song was playing.

Jab We Met is primarily based in Mumbai, Bathinda, and Shimla, as it tells the story of a feisty Punjabi girl, Geet Dhillon, who is sent off track when she bumps into a depressed Mumbai businessman, Aditya Kashyap, on an overnight train to Delhi. While attempting to get him back on board when he alights at a station stop, both are left stranded in the middle of nowhere. Having walked out of his corporate business after being dumped by his girlfriend, Aditya has no destination in mind, until Geet forces him to accompany her back home to her family, and then on to elope with her secret boyfriend, Anshuman.”

Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor is currently seen in Raj & DK series Farzi, marking it his OTT debut on Prime Video.
