Shaheer Sheikh says “I like to challenge myself” as he opens up on his character transition in Do Patti : Bollywood News

Actor Shaheer Sheikh, widely recognized for his role as Arjun in the epic TV series Mahabharat and as Dev in Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, is receiving immense praise for his portrayal of Dhruv Sood in the film Do Patti which also marks his debut Bollywood outing. Unlike his cute, lovable roles on television, the film features him in an intense and menacing character, where Sheikh was able to showcase his versatility, leaving audiences surprised.

Recently, in a Netflix interview, Shaheer was asked about his decision to play a grey character, which is a stark contrast to his usual ‘chocolate boy’ roles. He shared that he decided to choose this role without fear of audience perception or image-building. He went on to say, "For me, it would have been a problem if throughout the film we would have glorified this character and would not have punished it in the end, but the messaging is right. He is punished in the end, because that is the case." He continued, “Also, it allows me to show a lot of emotions. I thought it would have been a good, challenging character for me. And I like to challenge myself, I guess." The actor insisted that it was his choice to embrace this role with all his heart, despite the potential negative impact it could have had on his image.

Shaheer Sheikh played the role of Dhruv Sood in this romantic thriller that is set against the backdrop of twin rivalry between Saumya and Shailee Sood. With Kajol essaying the role of a cop for the first time, the film premiered on Netflix on October 25, a few days ahead of the occasion of Diwali.
