Shah Rukh Khan rejected Slumdog Millionaire as he didn’t want to play ‘dishonest’ & ‘cheating’ man’ says no one has offered concrete work in Hollywood: “Nobody’s ever offered me any good work”

en Bollywood News Shah Rukh Khan rejected Slumdog Millionaire as he didn’t want to play ‘dishonest’ & ‘cheating’ man’ says no one has offered concrete work in Hollywood: “Nobody’s ever offered me any good work”

His name was recommended to Boyle by producers of Kaun Banega Crorepati but he wasn’t keen on pursuing the role of a dishonest man.

Shah Rukh Khan graced the stage at the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai for an insightful conversation session entitled 'The Making Of A Star: A Conversation With Shah Rukh Khan', a 15-minute discussion on his ascent to fame and fortune. Renowned for his magnetic screen presence and unparalleled wit, Khan's enduring legacy in Indian cinema spans nearly three decades, making him a fitting representative of Indian excellence on the global stage.

Remarkably, SRK is the only Indian actor who is invited to the World Government Summit. It's SRK's first time at the prestigious gathering dedicated to shaping the future of governments globally. During the conversation, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about not crossing over to the West and why he rejected Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, which went on to become an Academy Award-winning film. Speaking at the event, Shah Rukh said, “Yes, Slumdog was there, now that you mention it. And I spend a lot of time with Mr. Boyle. He’s very sweet. But I was doing Who Wants to be a Millionaire (Kaun Banega Crorepati) on television, successfully at that time. And I just felt in the story that was being told, the guy who was hosting was very mean, the story that was being told.”

His name was recommended to Boyle by producers of Kaun Banega Crorepati but he wasn’t keen on pursuing the role of a dishonest man. “I was cheating and being dishonest as the host (in the movie). So I just found that it’s very strange that I’m being a host (on KBC) and I’m cheating in the film. So I explained to Mr. Boyle that I wouldn’t like to do it, please, and there are way better actors than me. And I think Mr. Anil Kapoor did it and he was fantastic as the host,” he added.

Speaking about crossing over to the West, Shah Rukh Khan said, “I’ve said this honestly, but nobody believes it. So I’m going to say it to you very, very honestly. Nobody’s ever offered me any work. Crossover of substance. I may have had conversations with people I know lots of lovely people from the West, from the English film industry, and the American film industry. But nobody’s offered me any good work.”

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is yet to announce his next project but speculations are that he is working with Sujoy Ghosh for Red Chillies Entertainment’s next King, starring alongside Suhana Khan.
