Sara Ali Khan speaks on Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘I don’t get respect’ remark; says, “Maybe as an actor one still has to prove themselves” : Bollywood News

Ever since Sara Ali Khan and Jahnvi Kapoor appeared on the popular chat show Koffee with Karan together, their friendship has been the subject of admiration among fans. In fact, other than the chat show, the duo has often spoken about each other in interviews. However, this time, it seems there is a difference of opinion among the star kids over Kapoor’s “I don’t get respect” remark.

For the unversed, Janhvi Kapoor had earlier said, “I believe I have more to offer and I want to prove to myself that I can take up new challenges and emerge from it. Somewhere it comes down to the line that ‘Mujhe mauke bohot mile hai, par izzat abhi tak nahi mila (I have got a lot of opportunities, but I am yet to earn the respect)’ and I think that’s what I am working for, in my own eyes. It takes a lot to build the perception and then break it,” during her interaction with Barkha Dutt at the We The Women event.

Coming back to Sara, she was recently asked to share her point of view on the same on Siddharth Kanan’s podcast. In her response, the Simmba actress asserted, “I don’t feel under-respected at all. I think I have been given a lot of respect. I think for me, if you accept me for who I am, that’s the biggest sign of respect and touchwood, I got that very early in my career. I think from the very beginning I got respect.”

Explaining her take further, the 27-year-old actress added, “Maybe what Janhvi could have meant, maybe as an actor one still has to prove themselves. But even then, whether it’s Kedarnath or Atrangi [Re], I read the reviews I was given. I don’t think respect has been a problem for me.”

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sara is currently busy with promoting her next release Gaslight, whereas Janhvi will be next seen in Mr & Mrs Mahi. On the other hand, she will also make her debut in the Telugu film industry with NTR 30.
