Even with the polarizing reactions to Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, it continues to reign at the box office. Starring opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the film, Triptii Dimri was also cast as a love interest in the film. She had to film an intimate scene with the lead actor where both of them had to strip down. Vanga recently spoke about how the scene came to be.
Talking to Galatta Plus, Vanga revealed that initially Ranvijay (Ranbir Kapoor) and Zoya (Triptii Dimri) would get close and then followed by the bed scene. However, after reviewing the scene, they decided to change it. "Thoda toh warm-up dikhayenge nahi toh audience (will be like), ‘Kya ho raha hai?’ Shot ka value kharab ho jayega” (We'll show a bit of warm-up; otherwise, the audience will be like, 'What's happening?' The value of the shot will be lost)," Vanga said.
Furthermore, when he narrated the scene to Ranbir and Triptii, he told them it would look like a painting. He wanted the atmosphere to feel like two people lost and love blooming between them. In Animal Park, the layers of their relationship will be explored further.
On December 19, Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Bhushan Kumar officially announced the Animal sequel with a post that read “It’s a partnership built on trust, fueled by creative freedom, and fortified by an unbreakable bond. Producer Bhushan Kumar and Director #SandeepReddyVanga unveil the next cinematic wonders—Prabhas’ Spirit, Animal Park, and an Allu Arjun saga—the chapters that follow the monumental success of Kabir Singh and #Animal.”
On partnership with Kumar, Vanga said, “The kind of freedom he gives in terms of my creativity and the liberty to choose any song makes me feel at home at T-Series, and there is nothing more than that a director needs.” The director said that the producer wasn’t worried about the budget and did not interfere during the shoot of the film. He added, “I realized after the movie was made that we never discussed the budget,” he was quoted by Indian Express.
In India, Animal has collected Rs. 519.64 crores. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri. It was released in theatres on December 1, 2023.
