Samantha Ruth Prabhu lauds Citadel and Kushi co-stars Varun Dhawan and Vijay Deverakonda; says, “I definitely draw from my co-stars”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is currently at the peak of her career with getting projects alongside stars from both South as well as Bollywood. She currently has two most anticipated projects in her pipeline, i.e., Citadel and Kushi. In an interview she spoke about her work and how she manages it with her health condition.

While talking about her upcoming projects, Samantha told Pinkvilla, “The two (projects) are starkly different from one another.” Talking about her co-stars Varun Dhawan in Citadel and Vijay Deverakonda in Kushi, she said, “They're both called VD, it's weird! I’m working with two VDs. But they're both amazing co-stars for sure. Both are very giving co-stars. I definitely draw from my co-stars. When they put up a great performance, it just makes me want to do my best and it pushes me to my limits so I think they are both incredible co-stars.”

Samantha revealed how much working has helped her during her time of recovery from the auto immune condition Myositis. She said, “Every day it’s like 'today's scene was amazing' and I think that's what keeps me going. That's what makes me forget about the pain and the fatigue of what I’m going through because it is so rewarding, the feeling of just nailing a shot, nailing a scene. And it makes my day.”

She added, “It's like every day phenomenal. And that’s how I feel being on both sets every single day. There's never a dull day.”

Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s much-awaited film, Kushi is a rom-com which is all set to arrive in theatres on September 21, 2023. The makers and the stars had shared the poster of the film on their social media platforms.

For the unversed, Kushi was earlier slated to release on December 23 last year. However, due to various reasons, including Samantha’s health concerns, the shoot of the film was delayed. Ever since Samantha has been diagnosed with a rare skin ailment, her projects have suffered delays. Following the Citadel schedule, Samantha joined the new schedule of Kushi earlier this month. Helmed by Shiva Nirvana, the ensemble cast of the film will also star Jayaram, Sachin Khedekar, Murli Sharma, Lakshmi, Ali, Rohini, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna, Srikanth Iyengar and Saranya, among others.

Talking about Citadel, it is the Indian version of Russo Brothers’ international action show of the same name and on the same platform. It will see Samantha teaming up with Varun Dhawan in the latter’s first web series. The Indian version is helmed by Raj and DK, who have previously worked with Samantha in the second season of their celebrated show The Family Man.
