The trailer launch of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's new film Freaky Ali amply displayed the Khan family's affection for Nawaz. Says the actor emotionally, "Not just Salman with whom I hit it off during Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but his entire family has adopted me as one of their own. Not just Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail but also their sisters Arpita and Alvira. They're all very warm and hospitable."
“Salman’s entire family has adopted me” – Nawazuddin SiddiquiNawaz says shooting for Sohail Khan's Freaky Ali was a treat. "I haven't felt so light, warm and stress-free shooting any film in my career. We were like one family. We never knew when the shooting started and ended."
In fact so stress-free was the shooting that even mistakes were laughed off. Recalls Nawaz, "There was a glaring continuity lapse during shooting when the sweater that I was wearing for a sequence was missing from a shot. We had to re-shoot the entire thing. But Sohail and the whole team just laughed it off. I've never shot with such an easygoing team before."
In Freaky Ali, Nawaz plays a men's under garment salesman who ends up being a golf pro. "I had no idea about how underwears were sold or golf was played. I learnt both for this film. Now I am addicted to golf. It's a game that puts you closest to your own self and to Nature. You don't need any companion to play golf. You are out there playing alone in the great wide greenery. It is the most peaceful game on the planet."Nawaz describes Freaky Ali as his most light-hearted film. "It made me happy shooting this film and to work with Sohail and Arbaaz. Arbaaz plays a very important role in the film. You'll be surprised at how effective he is."
