2014 – After more than a year of pre-production, shooting, post-production and marketing, Heropanti hit the screens. The film was a runaway hit and Sajid Nadiadwala, who has worked with superstars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar on a consistent basis, delivered a success with debutant Tiger Shroff as well. The industry got a new hero and with a Rs. 50 crore success behind him, it was a given that Tiger was much in demand. However, the prodigal son of Jackie Shroff decided to wait, and stuck on to his mentor.
Circa 2016 – Tiger Shroff is back on the big screen with Baaghi. While he showed his faith and trust in Sajid Nadiadwala and director Sabbir Khan to help him deliver the second time around as well, the producer-director jodi also made sure that they gave it all to the youngster.
“Exactly,” says a close associate, “For starters, it was a given that Baaghi would be an even bigger film than Heropanti. In any case, Sajid’s films always boast of very good production values. Whether it is a Blockbuster affair like Salman Khan’s Kick or successful franchise like Akshay Kumar’s Housefull or a film with a debutant like Heropanti, there has never been any compromise whatsoever on the look and presentation of a film. Baaghi didn’t have to be any different.”
This is obvious from the manner in which Tiger has earned the kind of mounting that Baaghi has to offer.
“The film boasts of some never-seen-before action and that by itself required some good investment,” adds a source, “It was all well-deserved since Tiger is superb in action and that gave further confidence to Sajid that he could go all out to make Baaghi a biggie by all means.”
Meanwhile Sabbir Khan, who started his Bollywood journey with a biggie Kambakkth Ishq and has a definite eye for big screen visuals, knew how to channelize the resources made available to him in the right direction.
“You can have the right budget at your disposal but if you don’t know how and where to spend it, the outcome would be hardly impressive on the big screen. No wonder, you can see all the money that has been spent in making Baaghi on the big screen. Whether it is the songs or the location or the action, which by the way is the highlight of the film, you see it all out there. Tiger is a lucky boy; he has a producer in Sajid Nadiadwala who doesn’t hold back,” the associate adds.
We look forward to the outcome on the big screen now.
