Saif Ali Khan reflected on his relationship with Kareena Kapoor, speaking about his admiration for her as a partner and mother, and candidly addressing the insecurities he experienced early on in their relationship. The Bollywood stars are regarded as one of the industry’s most loved couples and have often spoken openly about their bond.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Saif spoke about dating a working actor for the first time and recalled advice he had once received from Rani Mukerji, who suggested that he imagine he was dating a male actor to better understand the professional dynamics. Reflecting on this phase, Saif explained what made Kareena stand out beyond her stardom.
He shared that Kareena had a side that naturally embraced being a mother, a wife, and a homemaker, adding that being with her felt different from any other relationship he had experienced. Saif also noted that in his family, there were no expectations placed on women.
“She is truly an incredible woman, and I am so lucky to be with her because she is one of the most patient and loving people I have met. She is absolutely wonderful. I can go on and on. I know it’s a bit mushy,” Saif said. “She makes a wonderful home for us. She’s a very creative person in front of the camera, but she’s equally creative with us.”
Recalling their early dating days, Saif admitted that he struggled with insecurity and jealousy when Kareena worked with other actors. “In the beginning, I wasn’t very easy to deal with. Maybe I was a bit jealous and unsure of how to react to her working with other men. It was all new. These are emotions you need to process maturely, and you need a lot of trust and belief in each other,” he said.
He further explained how unfamiliar the situation felt at the time. “When things are new, and if you’re naturally insecure in a relationship, it can be tricky to navigate. Normally, I had gone out with girls who had nothing to do with movies as such. The one that struck me was that my rivals would be her allies, and I was like, ‘How do you work that’. But love triumphs that.”
Saif also shared that Kareena’s happiness had always come first for him, even if it meant celebrating the success of someone he might otherwise see as a professional rival.
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s relationship reportedly began during the filming of Tashan. While rumours surfaced at the time, the couple kept their relationship private before publicly acknowledging it at an event in 2007. In 2008, Saif tattooed Kareena’s name on his arm. They got married in 2012 and later welcomed two sons—Taimur Ali Khan in 2016 and Jehangir Ali Khan in 2021.
While Saif remained away from social media, Kareena often shared glimpses of their family life online, expressing her love for him and offering fans a peek into their personal moments.
