S.S. Rajamouli felt Aamir Khan was overacting in Laal Singh Chaddha, reveals actor’s cousin Mansoor Khan : Bollywood News

Fans of Aamir Khan were left disappointed when the superstar, known for his unconventional films, failed to recreate the success of Forrest Gump with its Hindi remake. While the original went on to receive Oscars, the Hindi remake Laal Singh Chaddha failed to make a mark at the box office with the film also receiving flak from many quarters. Recently, Aamir’s cousin and filmmaker Mansoor Khan opened up about the reactions he received for the film and revealed that filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli had felt that Aamir was overacting in the film.

In a PTI report, Mansoor Khan opened up about the reaction of RRR filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli after he saw Laal Singh Chaddha, as he said, “Aamir has a great sense of humour. So one day he laughingly tells me, ‘When you told me it was over the top, I said, ok, you are a subtle guy, which is why you might have felt that way. But when someone like Rajamouli tells me overacting lag raha hai, I said to myself, isko bhi lag raha hai toh kiya hi hoga (if he also feels the same then it must be true)”.

Mansoor went on to open about how he had given Aamir an honest review about the remake, as he added, “I liked the script. I think writer Atul Kulkarni did a fine job of it. Yes, Aamir, I believe, went over the top with his expressions. I mean the character is not a jerk, not someone suffering with dyslexia or anything else. He is a bit odd ... but that's about it. I loved Tom Hanks in the original, he was so minimal with his expressions and portrayal of the character. Of course, I did tell this to Aamir.”

For the unversed, Laal Singh Chaddha is a remake of the Oscar winning American drama, and the Hindi version featured Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya in pivotal roles along with Khan. It released on August 11, 2022.
