Vishnu Induri, Shibasish Sarkar, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Dil Raju, Aanand L Rai, Manmohan Shetty, Navraj Hans, Lakshmi Manchu, Ankur Garg, Manish Goswami, Madhu Bhojwani, Khushbu Sundar, Manoj Tiwari, Ashish Singh, Shridhar Pillai, Taran Adarsh and Rohit Shetty attended the launch of the Indian National Cine Academy (INCA) in Mumbai. As expected, mass filmmaker Rohit Shetty made some headline-worthy comments.
Rohit Shetty began by saying, “I think it’s one nation, one cinema and one celebration, that is, Indian cinema. All our producers and directors would agree that the sad part about footfalls is that our country has a population of 140 crores. Yet, the biggest blockbuster will be seen by just 3 or 4 crore people in a theatre. Not more than that. The reason behind this is the language barrier. The other reason can be that we don’t recognize those technicians.”
Rohit Shetty added, “I would like to say that maybe an Odiya director or an Assamese director will get recognition on a bigger and better platform, thanks to INCA. He’ll be able to show his talent to the whole world. I think it's high time that we all come together.”
Rohit also reacted to Khushbu Sundar’s observation about the AV of INCA, consisting of glimpses of classics from different languages. She said, “The AV presented here is fantastic and fantabulous. It takes into account all the different languages. But cinema is not only about the actors. It also has some great filmmakers. I am disappointed that I don't see Aanand L Rai or even a filmmaker like Rohit Shetty on the screen. I would love to see Shankar or Mani Ratnam, or K Raghavendra Rao. Hence, when you make the AV next time, please make sure that we have real heroes behind the scenes being mentioned as well!”
Rohit Shetty’s reaction to it was, “I really thank Khushbu ji. Next AV mein hum sab hone chahiye! That’s a great initiative (laughs).”
