Rohini Hattangadi has worked with Amitabh Bachchan in quite a few films of the yesteryears, including Shehenshah and Agneepath. Their presence together always yielded positive results, even when Hattangadi played his mother.

Hattangadi recently revealed those films of Bachchan which she didn’t like personally. Speaking on the YouTube channel Unfiltered by Samdish, she revealed, “Jo Toofan aur Jaadugar jo Amit ji ki thi… Mujhe toh bilkul achi nahi lagi. Kyun ki Amit ji ne yeh filmein? Aise main sochti thi (Toofan and Jaadugar, these two films that Amitabh Bachchan did, I didn’t like them at all. I used to wonder why he did these films).”

When asked what exactly she didn’t like in Jaadugar, Hattangadi said, “Its story was such that I wasn’t able to understand what was going on.”

Hattangadi also went onto praise a film starring Bachchan, which she feels is underrated. She said, “Before that I had seen a film called Alaap. And it was totally different. As in, he didn’t appear like Amitabh ji in that film. What character he played in it! I don’t know if it did well, but somehow I saw it. And as per that era, it had a very different Amit ji.”

Hattangadi has played mother to Bachchan’s characters in films like Shehanshah and Agneepath, despite being younger to him. Last year, in an interview with Cinestaan, she was asked her take on this. She said, “Well, you can say there was a vacant space then for the role of a mother. Nirupa Roy was no longer playing those roles. I think they fitted me in. So, I just accepted it.”
