Rhea Chakraborty is not hogging the headlines at present. But 4 years ago, she was made the nation’s biggest villain after Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise. A section of the media and aam junta blamed her for his death. Some even speculated that she practiced ‘kaala jadoo’ (black magic) to ‘trap’ the late actor. Rhea Chakraborty opened up about these tough times in a conversation with author Chetan Bhagat on his show 'Deeptalk With Chetan Bhagat'.
On ‘kaala jadoo’ allegations and why is it that men don’t indulge in black magic, Rhea amusingly started by saying, “I really wish I knew kaala jadoo. Then I could have fixed a lot of things that were happening in my life. Uss samay hi main unko (problems ko) apne vash mein karke control kar leti. Personally, I think it’s very sad ki hum hamare desh mein maante bhi hai ki auratein kaala jadoo karti bhi hai aur ek seductress hoti hai jo aadmi ko apne vash mein kar leti hai. Matlab, aadmi se bhi poochho. Shayad usko woh ladki pasand aayi ho. In the olden days, women (accused of being a witch) have been burned alive. In today’s times, what happened to me is an equivalent of what used to happen then.”
She continued, “If I knew black magic, toh superstar nahin ban jaati main? Badi badi filmein karti.” Rhea appreciated Chetan Bhagat here, “You asked a very interesting question that why men don’t do kaala jadoo?”
Chetan Bhagat asked her whether her parents ever blasted her for not choosing a simple life. She replied, “My parents never made me feel that due to my life and career choices, they got issues in life. They knew what I was going through. Lekin logon ne kaha yeh mujhe. Unsolicited advice dene waale toh ghoomte rehte hai. The doctor in the jail told me, ‘Aapke papa toh doctor hai. Aap kyun nahin bani doctor? Doctor ban jaati toh yeh sab drama nahin hota’.”
Rhea Chakraborty also made news when she wore a T-Shirt which read ‘Roses are red, violates are blue, let’s smash the patriarchy, me and you’. On this, she opened up, “That T-Shirt happened to be in my closet for over a year. The day I got arrested, I was leaving for my interrogation. I opened the cupboard and I saw that T-Shirt. It resonated with me. I was like ‘This is what I feel right now. This is what’s happening to me’. Hence, I wore it. I never thought it’d be picked up and people would see meaning in it. I am glad they did because sometimes when you are voiceless, the aspects that you resonate with speak for you.”

Rhea Chakraborty also confessed that she thought of suicide saying, “The darkest thought that comes to any human being is taking their own life. Of course, the thought has come to me many times in 2020.”
She also talked about the episode that triggered such thoughts and said, “One of my brother’s friend sent some dish called Cheetos through Swiggy. He did so to make our day better. Imagine, uss delivery boy ko bhi rok diya. Usko TV pe dikha diya. We were home, waiting for our order. And we saw on TV that the delivery guy is being harassed. Matlab, ab hum khana bhi na khaaye? Is that also a crime? Kya ab hamare jeene mein bhi problem hai? The reporters made him open the box and then put it back. And obviously, we didn’t take it, neither the delivery boy come to our house.”
