Actor Raveena Tandon has spoken about her reaction to director Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, saying she contacted Yami Gautam after watching the film on streaming. The film, which premiered on OTT in late January, has continued to draw attention online and among industry figures weeks after its release.
During a recent podcast conversation, Tandon described how she reached out to Gautam to share her response to the film and Dhar’s work. “I saw Dhurandhar and I called Yami Gautam and said, ‘I am sorry. I am the biggest fan of your husband. You have to share my attention with your husband because I think he is completely it,’” she said, recounting the exchange.
Tandon also spoke more broadly about what she sees as a shift in audience preferences toward films built around strong central characters and recognisable themes. “The audience got satisfaction after seeing films like Pushpa, KGF, Dhurandhar, and more. They felt like the hero looked like a hero. It is coming back to your country, its problems, and dealing with them. The hero is coming out as a hero,” she said.
Dhurandhar marks another collaboration between Dhar and Gautam, who married in 2021. The director is known for backing projects with a strong patriotic or action-driven narrative tone, and the film has generated discussion among viewers about its themes, performances, and staging since its digital debut.
While audience reactions have varied, the film’s continued visibility on streaming platforms has helped sustain conversation around it, with several industry voices sharing their responses in interviews and on social media.
