At the recent Sheshakti event, Rasika Dugal reflected on her college days while discussing her role as Neeti Singh, an IPS officer in Delhi Crime. She noted how playing Neeti—characterized by idealism and a desire to change the world—paralleled her own beliefs in her younger years. Rasika shared that, like Neeti, she once thought her work could lead to significant change, but later recognized the complexities of life.

In preparation for her role as a probationary officer in the series, Rasika adopted an immersive approach. She took the opportunity to meet a real-life counterpart to her character.

Rasika began shadowing an officer, forging a relationship that has spanned six years, from the filming of Delhi Crime Season 1 in 2018 to the present day. Rasika shared, "There’s an interesting story between her and me. I’ve been watching her since we filmed season 1 in 2018, and now it’s 2024.” She continues stating that they inspire each other in many ways, and what you see in Neeti Singh is often drawn from her.

Promoted to ACP in Season 2, Neeti’s career journey coincided with the officer Rasika shadowed, who also received a promotion. To prepare for the role's evolving responsibilities, Rasika spent four days at the police station, observing the daily flow of grievances—some tragic, others humorous.

As the highly anticipated Season 3 looms, Rasika humorously noted, “She’s been promoted, I’m not. I need to catch up” This ongoing relationship with the officer continues to shape her portrayal of Neeti Singh, deepening the authenticity of her performance across the seasons.
