Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone got married in a surreal ceremony in the idyllic Lake Como followed by multiple receptions in Mumbai and Bangalore. After the wedding, Ranveer delivered a hit film Simmba and therefore has been in a lot of limelight since. In an interview with Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai in the show Famously Filmfare, he revealed that he actually does not mind taking his wife’s surname since he has dropped his! Before Ranveer, Deepika Padukone had appeared on the show where she joked about Ranveer adopting her surname instead of other way round, because equality. When quizzed if Ranveer would ever be Ranveer Singh Padukone he said, “What a name! It's got a ring to it. I dropped my surname so I needed a new one anyway. It's a great and legendary surname, why not I say.” Please give him the best husband of the millennium trophy already for he has won our hearts and how!
On a serious note, Deepika Padukone revealed that she and Ranveer never actually spoke about changing surname because both of them have worked very hard to carve their own identity and so it is unfair for either of them to change their names. Fair point, DP. It is interesting how Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh along with Anushka Sharma – Virat Kohli, Sonam Kapoor – Anand Ahuja have been inspiring masses by their modern take on the institution of marriage.
Professionally, Ranveer has delivered a smashing hit with Simmba and is gearing up for Gully Boy.
