The much-awaited DeepVeerKiShaddi frenzy attained an exceptional high last evening as the couple regaled us with their wedding pictures. The North Indian style wedding had Deepika Padukone flaunting the quintessential Punjabi Chura and Kaleeras that were courtesy of the jewellery label, Ra Abta by Rahul Luthra. As one of the most sought-after bridal jewellery brands in India, this brand caters to the contemporary as well as traditional sensibilities.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh chose the feted Sabyasachi to customize their wedding ensembles. Obviously, the sheer grandeur and spectacular nature of the ensembles that the much-loved couple sported in the official pictures left us all speechless.
The duo wed in two styles – the traditional Konkani style as Deepika hails from Bangalore and the Sindhi or North Indian style for the Bhavnani family. With varied shades of red imbibing seamlessly in our picture perfect moment, we see Deepika sporting the bright red chura and gold-toned kaleeras. The Punjabi chooda or chura constitutes a part of the bride’s solah shringar and is a harbinger of good luck. Meanwhile, the umbrella-shaped hangings or kaleeras signify eternal love between the newlyweds and symbolizes wealth and prosperity.

Other opulent jewellery that accompanies includes the magnificent maang tika, nathni and a melange of rings, including the stunning engagement ring. A poignant detail on Deepika’s dupatta is the mention of the blessings that elders bestow on married women – Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava. Saubhagyavati connotes a woman who is lucky and actually translates as “married woman”.
