Rani Mukerji has dented the narrative that content films are only for OTT with the super start that Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway (MCVN) has got over its first weekend. In its first three days, MCVN has recorded a collection of 6.42 crore nett in India (Friday: 1.27 crore, Saturday: 2.26 crore, Sunday: 2.89 crore) and it’s 3rd day saw a remarkable 300% growth from Day 1 which shows that the film has found unanimous love.

West Bengal as a market always fires disproportionately well for all Rani Mukerji films and MCVN sees no exception to this. The film is collecting outstandingly well there. Rani is thrilled to get the support from her roots.

Rani says, “I’m a proud Bengali and I wear my identity as a badge of honour. People from West Bengal have always supported me and my films and I cannot be more grateful to them for always having my back. The love that Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway is getting in West Bengal is overwhelming. It feels extra special because I’m playing a fierce Bengali woman in the movie too.”

She adds, “I have given it my all to bring Sagarika’s daunting struggle of getting her kids back on celluloid. I have seen how my mom, a Bengali mother, is fiercely protective of her children and I saw the same traits in Sagarika when I learnt about her life story. So, two Bengali moms have actually inspired me to play this role and I’m so proud that it is resonating with people, especially mothers, across India.”

Rani further adds, “If I have made Bengalis living across the world proud by my portrayal of a courageous mother in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway as well as through my career choices so far, that’s enough reward for me to keep acting and keep pushing the boundaries as an artiste.”
